Home/Business Firewall

Business networks

Network protection your team never has to think about.

Managed firewall protection for offices, retail sites, professional services and remote teams — administered centrally, with policy that reflects how your organisation actually works.

  • Central administration across every site
  • Segmentation and secure access where configured
  • Activity records for review and reporting

Who it fits

Built for organisations that need protection, not a security department.

Most growing businesses have more network than they have time to manage. The service is designed for that gap.

Offices and professional services

Legal, accounting, healthcare administration, agencies and consultancies handling sensitive client information on a shared network.

Retail and multi-site

Locations that need consistent policy without a technician configuring each site individually.

Remote and hybrid teams

Staff working across an office, home connections and cloud services, with policy that follows the work.

Capabilities

What business protection adds.

The controls below are configured to your environment. Where something depends on your architecture or plan, we will say so before you commit.

Traffic controls

Rules for what may enter and leave the network, applied consistently across every protected site.

  • Inbound connection filtering
  • Outbound policy enforcement
  • Consistent rules across locations

Application-aware security

Policy that recognises the application in use rather than only an address and a port number.

  • Decisions with more context
  • Granular allowances
  • Available in NGFW configurations

Network segmentation

Separation between parts of the network so access follows the structure of the organisation.

  • Guest and public access zones
  • Separated operational systems
  • Depends on network architecture

Secure remote access

VPN and secure access options for staff working away from a protected site.

  • Encrypted connections back to the network
  • Access aligned with policy
  • Availability varies by configuration

Central administration

One place to manage policy, review activity and apply a change everywhere at once.

  • Managed for you or by your IT team
  • Delegated administrative access
  • Change history retained

Security monitoring

Continuous observation of network activity, with records that support review and reporting.

  • Automated monitoring
  • Event records for investigation
  • Reporting depth varies by plan

Segmentation

Not every system belongs on the same network.

Point-of-sale terminals, guest Wi-Fi, staff laptops, building systems and back-office servers all have different risk profiles. Putting them in the same flat network makes every one of them a route to the others.

Segmentation defines who can reach what, so an issue in one zone does not become an issue everywhere. The structure depends on your network architecture.

Internal network zonesA firewall policy sits above three network zones: a main network with full access, a smart device zone with limited access, and an isolated guest zone. Traffic between zones follows the configured policy.MAIN NETWORKFULL ACCESSSMART DEVICESLIMITED ACCESSGUEST ACCESSISOLATEDFirewall policyTRAFFIC BETWEEN ZONES FOLLOWS THE POLICY YOU SET

Continuity and administration

Predictable to change, predictable to recover.

When policy lives on individual devices, every change is a small project and every recovery is an exercise in memory. Central management makes both routine: apply a change once, see where it applied, review what happened afterwards.

Activity records matter here too. Being able to show what policy was in force, and what it did, is often as valuable as the block itself.

Configuration note

Resilience options, administrative delegation and reporting detail depend on the architecture and plan you select.

Where to go next

Business protection often sits alongside two other services.

Next-generation firewall

Application-aware inspection, intrusion prevention and policy with more context. The usual next step for organisations outgrowing simple rules.

Cloud firewall

Cloud-delivered policy for distributed sites, remote workers and cloud workloads, managed from the same place.

Web application firewall

Request-level protection for the website, application or API your customers actually touch.

FAQ

Business firewall questions.

How is this different from the home service?

The principle is the same; the scope and control are not. Business plans add centralised administration across sites, structured segmentation, secure remote access, granular policy and more detailed activity records. Features vary by configuration.

We have one office and a few remote staff. Is that too small?

No. Small teams are a common fit, particularly where staff work across an office, home connections and cloud services. The configuration scales to what you actually have rather than to a minimum size.

Can policy differ by team or role?

Where the selected configuration supports it, policy can be applied by group, site or application rather than as one blanket rule. This is usually the point at which organisations move to a next-generation configuration.

Do you replace our existing network equipment?

Not necessarily. The service is designed to work with common business network setups. What is involved depends on your current equipment, connectivity and how your sites are linked, so it is worth walking through the specifics.

What about business continuity?

Configuration and policy are managed centrally, which makes changes and recovery steps more predictable than device-by-device administration. Specific resilience options depend on your architecture and plan.

Who administers it day to day?

That is a choice. Some organisations want the service managed for them; others want their own IT team to hold administrative access. Both are workable, and delegation options depend on configuration.
