What information SecureSonic Firewall collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to people who visit this website, who contact us through the enquiry form or by email, and to customers of SecureSonic Firewall services. It covers information handled by SecureSonic Firewall as the organisation responsible for deciding how that information is used.
Where we operate a firewall service on your network, some information passes through equipment and software supplied by a third-party platform vendor. That vendor handles data on our instruction as part of delivering the service. Written enquiries about this policy, or about information we hold, go to support@securesonicfirewall.com or +1 (740) 924 5205, and reach our data protection contact.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name and email address, and a phone number if you choose to provide one
- The category of enquiry you select and the message you write
- For customers: billing contact details, service address and the technical details of the network being protected, such as router model and internet provider
Information collected automatically when you visit this site
- Standard web server records, which may include IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of the request
- Information your WordPress installation or hosting provider records as part of serving the site
Information generated by the service
- Firewall policy events: connections allowed, limited or blocked, with the associated addresses, ports, protocols and timestamps
- Configuration history and change records for your policy
- Support correspondence relating to your service
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card numbers, passwords or account credentials by email or through the enquiry form.
How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Reply to your enquiry and provide the service you have asked for
- Configure, operate, monitor and troubleshoot firewall protection on your network
- Investigate security events and respond to incidents affecting your service
- Produce reports on what your policy allowed and blocked
- Meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations
We do not sell personal information. We do not use the content of your network traffic or your support correspondence to build advertising profiles.
Where you are covered by a privacy law that requires us to state a lawful basis, we rely on performance of a contract for customer data, and on legitimate interests for answering enquiries and securing the networks we protect. Ask support@securesonicfirewall.com or call +1 (740) 924 5205 and we will confirm it in writing.
Network traffic and security data
A firewall works by examining traffic. That means the service necessarily processes information about the connections crossing the boundary of your network — addresses, ports, protocols, domain names requested and the policy decision reached.
Where TLS/SSL inspection is enabled on your deployment, the platform decrypts, inspects and re-encrypts traffic in order to apply policy. This is not enabled by default. It requires deliberate configuration, certificate distribution to the devices concerned, and your instruction. If you operate a business network, you are responsible for informing the people using that network, and for confirming that inspection is lawful in your jurisdiction and consistent with any applicable employment or works council agreements.
We retain security event records so that a policy decision can be reviewed, explained and corrected. Access to those records inside SecureSonic is limited to staff who need it to operate or support the service.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires.
- Enquiries that do not become customers are deleted once the enquiry is closed
- Customer records are kept for the life of the service and for the period afterwards required by accounting and tax rules
- Security event records are kept for the retention window set for your plan
The retention period that applies to your service is set out in your service agreement. Ask support@securesonicfirewall.com or call +1 (740) 924 5205 and we will confirm it in writing.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you and receive a copy
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information
- Withdraw consent where we relied on it, without affecting what we did beforehand
- Complain to your national data protection authority
To exercise any of these, email support@securesonicfirewall.com. We will confirm receipt and respond within the period required by the law that applies to you. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
The law that applies depends on where you live. We answer requests as quickly as that law requires, and never later than one month from the date we verify your identity. Ask support@securesonicfirewall.com or call +1 (740) 924 5205 and we will confirm it in writing.
Cookies and this website
The SecureSonic Firewall website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not embed third-party analytics or social media trackers in its pages.
The site runs on WordPress. WordPress and your hosting provider may set functional cookies — for example to keep a logged-in administrator signed in, or to protect forms against abuse. Any plugin added to the site later may set its own cookies.
If you want the current list of cookies set when you visit this site, ask support@securesonicfirewall.com and we will send it.
How we protect it
We limit access to personal information to the people who need it to do their job, and we use the access controls, authentication and logging provided by the systems we operate.
No service can promise that information will never be exposed. If a breach occurs that affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator we are required to notify, within the timeframe the applicable law sets.
Where a notification deadline applies to you, we work to it, and in any case we tell affected customers as soon as we understand what happened. Ask support@securesonicfirewall.com or call +1 (740) 924 5205 and we will confirm it in writing.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes affecting existing customers will be notified by email before they take effect.
